How We Build a Calculator
Every calculator is built around a specific, published formula, and that formula is printed on the tool page so anyone can check it — we do not ship black-box tools. Before a calculator goes live, it is tested against two or three known-correct results, either worked by hand or taken from an authoritative published source, and the worked example shown on the page is one of those verified cases.
Where a calculation is high-stakes or uncertain, we would rather delay or omit a tool than publish math we are not confident is correct.
Sourcing and Rate-Dependent Tools
When a calculation depends on a rate, bracket, fee or schedule set by an outside authority, we cite the actual issuing body — a tax authority, the U.S. Treasury, a state agency or court — rather than a secondary aggregator. We show the value used, the date we last verified it, and pre-fill it into an editable field so you can update it if it has changed.
Our guides follow the same principle: claims that depend on official figures are tied to their source.
Accuracy, Review and Corrections
Content is reviewed for accuracy before publication and revisited when the underlying rates, formulas or guidance change. Each tool and article shows when it was last updated.
If you find an error, tell us through the contact page with the numbers you entered and what you expected. We read every message, take accuracy seriously, and correct confirmed errors promptly — corrections are made and dated rather than quietly removed.
Independence and Advertising
CalculatorPlus is an independent publisher and is not affiliated with any government agency, financial institution, or the brands whose methods some calculators reference. The site is supported by display advertising, which is kept separate from our content: advertisers have no influence over which tools we build, how a calculator works, or what a guide says.
