Anniversary Calculator
Enter a date to see how long ago it was and how many days until the next anniversary.
An anniversary calculator finds how much time has passed since a date โ in years, months and days โ and counts down to the next yearly anniversary. Enter the original date and today's date does the rest, so you can see, for example, that a wedding was 8 years and 3 months ago with 92 days until the next anniversary.
How to Use This Calculator
Enter the date you want to measure from โ a wedding, a first date, a work start date or any milestone. The calculator shows how long ago it was in years, months and days, and how many days remain until the next yearly anniversary.
Everything is figured from today's date in your browser, so the countdown is always current when you open the page.
How the Calculation Works
The elapsed time is the difference between today and the date you entered, broken into whole years, then the leftover months, then the remaining days. Calendar lengths vary, so the tool counts up month by month rather than assuming every month is 30 days.
For the countdown, it takes the original month and day in the current year; if that has already passed, it uses next year's, then counts the days from today until then.
elapsed = today โ start; next anniversary = next occurrence of the same month/day
Worked Example
Suppose the date is 20 April 2018 and today is 30 July 2026. That is 8 years, 3 months and 10 days ago.
The next anniversary is 20 April 2027, which is 264 days away from 30 July 2026. The tool updates both figures automatically each day.
Assumptions and Limitations
- Counts from today's date on your device
- Elapsed time is given in whole years, months and days
- The next anniversary is the next same-month-and-day occurrence
- Feb 29 anniversaries fall on Mar 1 in non-leap years in this tool

How do I calculate time since an anniversary?
Subtract the original date from today, expressed in years, months and days. Enter the date and the calculator does it, also counting down to the next anniversary.
How is the countdown to the next anniversary found?
It takes the original month and day in the current year; if that date has passed, it uses next year's, then counts the days from today until then.
Does it count exact months?
Yes. It counts calendar months rather than assuming 30 days each, so the years-months-days breakdown matches how people actually reckon dates.
What about a February 29 anniversary?
In non-leap years there's no Feb 29, so this tool rolls it to March 1 for the countdown. Traditions vary on whether to observe it on Feb 28 or Mar 1.
Can I use it for any milestone?
Yes โ weddings, birthdays, sobriety dates, work start dates or any recurring yearly event. It simply measures time from the date you enter.
